Congratulations, you’ve discovered a sports source that doesn't insult your intelligence. This site is dedicated to bring you creative, relevant and current news and opinions relating to sports stories not often covered by the mainstream American sports media. When networks like ESPN or FOX (excluding FSC) cover non-conventional (in the American sense) sports, they fail time and time again to apply proper coverage to these 'peripheral' sports. In some cases, through their on-air personalities (see: The Jim Rome Show, The Scott van Pelt Show, The Herd), they even question the validity and character of these sports and their fans. Oftentimes, these major networks trivialize their coverage and boil down any opinions to the lowest common denominator in order to attract the 'casual fan'. More importantly, in their attempt to try and draw listeners and watchers, they undermine their credibility as broadcasters. Why? Because they HAVE AN AGENDA. Yet, this does not even concern me. At thetruefootball.com, we refuse to be bitter. Nay, we are only optimistic about the opportunity they have provided us. Our writing contributors and podcast guests will be encouraged not to hold back any thoughts or opinions. Because of the caliber of these guests, they will at times surely swear and make offensive religious remarks (especially in the case of Celtic/Rangers fans). We will make fun of people and each other. We all will almost always be biased towards our favorite teams and against our rivals. And it is because of all this that you will ALWAYS get honest opinions and thoughts. But more Important than any disclaimer is the fact that I am doing this for fun. I don’t have an agenda other than having a good time with my friends and sharing that with whoever wants to listen. I have these conversations all the time and I enjoy them and they are interesting to me; hopefully they will be to you too.
By now you are no doubt asking the question: “What will I see on here?” The majority of content will focus on football/futbol/calcio/soccer. Besides football, however, occasionally other sports will be explored such as tennis, cycling, hockey, rugby, hurling, cricket, etc. This content will be delivered on the website through articles/blogs and podcasts.
I should disclaim that the title is not a slight on American football but rather a thought piece on how European football, and other international sports are covered in the United States. Fans of all sports are welcome especially since this website will help be a conduit for Americans to better understand the global sporting world.
Thanks for coming. Everyone.
